EDC will host an upcoming webinar series to examine the connection between opioid overdose and suicide—and their relation to chronic pain. SAMHSA’s Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT) and the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), both housed at EDC, will co-host the series, which will feature leading experts who will help identify effective prevention strategies.

Educators, state and district administrators, and teacher education specialists are invited to attend “Equity and Diversity in Teacher Preparation: Learning from Research and Practice,” a one-day conference hosted by the Regional Educational Laboratory Northeast and Islands at Education Development Center (EDC). The conference will be held June 25, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. (ET), at EDC headquarters, 43 Foundry Avenue in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Four students pursuing public health and education careers are participating in EDC’s summer internship program at EDC offices in Boston and New York. Three graduate students and one rising senior were selected based on specific criteria, including educational achievement, writing skills, initiative, and creativity.

EDC will participate in a variety of sessions at the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) Annual Conference, April 18–21, in Washington, D.C.

EDC’s Zero Suicide Institute is a partner for HLTH, The Future of Healthcare, an upcoming health care innovation event to be held May 6–9 in Las Vegas. The event features 100 sessions covering new technologies, innovative tools, and business strategies for improving health care while lowering costs.
